This Privacy Policy explains how Lucent Labz Tutoring (“Lucent Labz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information obtained through lucentlabz.com and in connection with tutoring inquiries and services.

1. Who may use the website and inquiry form

This website and its inquiry form are intended for parents, legal guardians, and adult students. They are not directed to children under 13. A person under 18 may not submit the inquiry form. If the student is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must submit the inquiry on the student’s behalf. An adult student may submit an inquiry for themselves.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 submitted personal information directly, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information directly may contact us at lucentlabz@gmail.com.

2. Information you provide

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

The adult submitter’s name and relationship to the student;
The student’s name and grade or learning level;
Email address, phone number, and preferred contact method;
Requested subjects and online or in-person format preference;
General scheduling availability;
Learning goals, academic challenges, and questions you include;
Text-message consent and adult/guardian confirmation; and
Records of communications and services when tutoring begins.

Please do not submit Social Security numbers, financial-account information, payment-card numbers, passwords, medical records, diagnoses, accommodation records, or other highly sensitive information through the inquiry form.

3. Information collected automatically

Our website and hosting providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to deliver, secure, and maintain the website, such as IP address, browser or device type, request time, referring page, and security or error logs. We do not currently use the inquiry form for behavioral advertising or intentionally place third-party advertising trackers on it.

4. How we use information

We may use personal information to:

Respond to tutoring inquiries and communicate with the adult submitter;
Understand the student’s academic needs and evaluate fit and availability;
Plan, schedule, and provide tutoring services;
Send requested email, phone, or text communications;
Maintain service, consent, payment, and business records;
Protect the website, prevent fraud or abuse, and troubleshoot problems;
Comply with applicable law and enforce our policies; and
Improve our services using aggregated or de-identified information.

5. Email, phone, and text communications

We use the contact information provided to respond to an inquiry and communicate about tutoring services. If text messaging is selected, we require express consent before sending service-related texts. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to text messages is not a condition of purchasing tutoring. You may reply STOP to opt out of texts. We do not sell or share mobile opt-in information with third parties for their marketing.

6. When information may be disclosed

We may disclose limited information:

To service providers that support website hosting, secure data storage, email notifications, communications, scheduling, or payment processing, only as needed for those services;
When required by law, legal process, or a valid government request;
When reasonably necessary to protect a person’s safety or the rights, security, and property of Lucent Labz or others; or
In connection with a future business reorganization or transfer, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

Lucent Labz is currently founder-led and does not operate a network of tutors. We do not share inquiry details with an outside tutor. If that operating model changes, we will update this policy and obtain appropriate permission before sharing student-specific information for a proposed tutor relationship.

7. Payments

Payment-card information should be submitted only through an approved third-party payment processor, not through the inquiry form. A payment processor handles payment information under its own privacy policy and security practices. We may retain limited transaction records such as the amount, date, status, and invoice reference for business and legal purposes.

8. Selling personal information

We do not sell personal information. We do not use student information for third-party behavioral advertising, and we do not disclose it to third parties for their independent marketing.

9. Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, provide tutoring, maintain appropriate business and consent records, resolve disputes, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and whether tutoring services were provided. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to legal and recordkeeping requirements.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect personal information. Full inquiry details are kept in a private owner inbox, while email notifications contain only a notice that an inquiry was received. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

11. Your choices and requests

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information you submitted, or withdraw a communication preference, by emailing lucentlabz@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity and authority as the student’s parent or legal guardian before fulfilling a request. We may retain information when reasonably necessary for legal, safety, contractual, or recordkeeping purposes.

12. Third-party websites and services

The website may link to services operated by others, such as payment, scheduling, or educational resources. Their privacy policies govern their collection and use of information. We encourage you to review those policies before providing information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, technology, or legal obligations change. The revised policy will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through reasonable additional notice.
